More from Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood, in Their Own Words.

Margaret Sanger's cause, her creation of Planned Parenthood and all her other actions supporting Planned Parenthood and her cause in general were the direct result of her ideology and belief system. Any person who claims to be in "awe" of Ms. Sanger's work is essentially agreeing to her cause and its background in general. Either Secretary Clinton is misguided and uneducated on Ms. Sanger's ideology (which is readily available for research and review, as she wrote extensively about her beliefs) or else she agrees with Ms. Sanger. I sincerely hope the latter is not the case.

Today Planned Parenthood tries to hide behind the appeal of "family planning" and "women's health services," yet simple research will demonstrate how the organization continues to ascribe to Ms. Sanger's ideology and [lack of] reasoning in our current society. More than 80% of PP patients are low income, and many are from minority groups. The majority of PP clinics are purposefully placed in these neighborhoods, and PP accepts race-based donations. Clearly, this is not simply "family planning" and "women's health services."

Below Ms. Sanger's quotes are the results of a very interesting study providing evidence of Planned Parenthood currently targeting minorities. Don't be deceived into believing Margaret Sanger's ideology and reasons for founding Planned Parenthood died with her (if they had, none of these issues would exist and Secretary Clinton would not have received an award from Planned Parenthood named after Margaret Sanger just this month). Evidence of Planned Parenthood Targeting Minorities

A study was conducted by Students for Life of America on the background of Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, and how her views continue to saturate the organization today, which has led to a process of targeting minorities for abortion services. Data was collected from various organizations including the Alan Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Main Findings

Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger, a woman who had clear and forceful hatred towards minorities and her views continue to infiltrate the organization to this day.

African-Americans have a disproportionate number of abortions according to their population in the United States.

African-American women are 4.8 times as likely as non-Hispanic white women to have an abortion and the African-American population is the only population in the country that is in decline.

(1) Planned Parenthood faces criminal charges and other serious allegations across the nation yet last year they received $336 million in taxpayer dollars.

Racist Roots of Planned Parenthood

From the beginnings of Planned Parenthood to the way it operates today, it is clear that the organization believes that both moral and legal law does not apply to them. As an organization that claims to be supporting the freedom of women to choose, they also claim to be leading the “social justice movement.”

Its origins began in 1916 when Margaret Sanger began the American Birth Control League (later re-named Planned Parenthood Federation of America in 1942) with deep roots in her belief of eugenics.

(2) Sanger’s campaign and social philosophy were aligned as she worked to target those that were seen as being “genetically unfit.” This social intervention took on the practices of selective breeding, sterilization and other ways for moderating the number of children born to those which society viewed in the 20th century as being “unfit.” Sanger stated in an article that “a stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring.”

(3) Sanger’s obsession with eugenics and racism was clearly presented in her involvement of planning the First World Population Conference which took place in Geneva in 1926. (

(4) She was not mentioned on the actual program, but instead worked behind the scenes and initiated the “Negro Project” in 1939. She stated, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and
the minister is the man who can straighten out the idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

(5) The objective of the “project” was to infiltrate the black community by presenting birth control as a health option for women.

In a letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble Sanger stated, “We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. And the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

(6) This hatred of mainly African-Americans which Sanger saw as “unfit” continues to influence the culture and the rise in numbers of abortions. According to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), “despite the recent decline of pregnancy rates in the United States, young women of color continue to be disproportionately affected.”

(7) Contrary to the public’s belief that Planned Parenthood is helpful and supportive of family planning and the health of the mother and child, recent news and research show that the roots of its foundation have continued to give birth to continual hatred and disdain for minorities that its founder saw as “unfit.” In Sanger’s magazine entitled The Birth Control Review, editor Elmer Carter wrote an article, “Eugenics for the Negro” where he stated, “the race problem in America is infinitely aggravated by the presence of too many unhappy born, sub-normals, morons, and imbeciles of both races. Therefore, those fighting for birth control must take eugenics into consideration.”

(8) The beliefs from the inception of this organization to its practices all link directly back to racism and hatred for people who are not viewed as equals when it comes to family and the value of life. As Sanger stated in 1922 her advice was, “The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

(9) Planned Parenthood’s Racist Agenda in Action

African-Americans have a disproportionate number of abortions according to their population in the United States. African-Americans make up 17 percent of live births

(10) and they are having 36 percent of abortions in the U.S

(11). With this devastating number of abortions, the result is a 50 percent decrease in overall African-American population in the United States.

The Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, reports that black women are 4.8 times as likely

(12) as non-Hispanic white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are 2.7 times as likely. Could it be that Planned Parenthood is targeting minorities in these communities based upon the lifelong agenda of Margaret Sanger?

Recently Planned Parenthood was exposed in its hatred and racism toward minorities. Lila Rose, 19-year-old sophomore at UCLA and editor of The Advocate, exposed the truth about Planned Parenthood through legally recorded calls to facilities in seven states. Clinics in Ohio, Oklahoma, Idaho and New Mexico have all been captured on tape willfully accepting donations from a donor that designated the money be spent to abort a black child. Planned Parenthood: The exact amount we charge right now is $450 for an abortion
Donor: Okay, $450
Planned Parenthood: Mhm, and, um, we can definitely designate it for an African American.

Ohio:
Donor: When I underwrite abortions, does that apply to minorities too?
Planned Parenthood: If you specifically wanted to underwrite an abortion for a minority person, you can target it that way. You can specify that is how you wanted it spent.
Donor: Ok, yeah, because there’s definitely way too many Black people in Ohio, so I’m just trying to do my part.
Planned Parenthood: Ok, whatever.
Donor: Well Blacks especially need abortions too, so that’s what I’m trying to do.
Planned Parenthood: Well, for whatever reason, we’ll accept the money.
Donor: Ok great, thank you.

Reverend Clenard H. Childress Jr., head of the LEARN (Life Education and Resource Network) project stated “every 3rd abortion in America is on Black women. It is the most common surgical procedure performed on Afro-American women.”

(14) Taxpayers, Integrity and Investigations

Across the country, Planned Parenthood is under scrutiny. They have been charged in Kansas

(15) with performing illegal, late-term abortions and falsifying records. In the state of California a lawsuit alleges that taxpayers have been defrauded

(16) out of $180 million. Also, an Ohio Planned Parenthood is being sued for failing to report the abortion to the parents of a 14-year-old girl

(17) who was being abused by a coach.

By the above mentioned actions, it is clear that Planned Parenthood believes they are above the law. There is no respect for the law and more importantly for the very women that the organization claims to protect.

Conclusion

Until these allegations are reconciled and the truth is made clear by law Planned Parenthood’s funding should be halted. Last year Planned Parenthood received $336 million dollars of taxpayer and government funding

(18), even though they are under criminal investigation and have other serious allegations against them.

It is time that African-Americans and all minorities contact their local and state elected officials to protect them from the siege on their families. This issue is not a matter of siding with pro-life or pro-choice, it is an issue of blatant racism that continues to be rewarded by receiving increased funding each year by taxpayers and government budgets.

Presidential candidates need to speak up and protect the people who elected them and the people who elected them need to make sure the funding is frozen.

This battle is not something that one particular group or organization can take on by themselves. It requires the strength of organizations, government officials, voters, and those who have been impacted by Planned Parenthood to stand together and demand that the hate is not supported and instead that the funding of this cancerous organization are brought to a close. Hate must be held accountable.

No offense to Secretary Clinton, but I hope she does more thorough research into who she publicly "admires" in the future (as it is my hope that she truly is NOT in awe of the ideology and intentions of the well known eugenicist, Margaret Sanger - if she is, well then Margaret Sanger and Hillary Clinton's own words speak for themselves). Secretary Clinton "In Awe" of Racist Eugenicist Margaret Sanger

WASHINGTON, April 3, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a speech to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Awards Gala, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that she admires "Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision." Secretary Clinton said she is "really in awe of" Sanger for Sanger's early work in Brooklyn, New York, "taking on archetypes, taking on attitudes and accusations flowing from all directions."

Immediately following a trip to Mexico's Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the pro-life movement, Mrs. Clinton travelled to Texas on March 28, where she was awarded the Margaret Sanger Award by Planned Parenthood.

She told the abortion movement representatives assembled there, "The 20th century reproductive rights movement, really embodied in the life and leadership of Margaret Sanger, was one of the most transformational in the entire history of the human race."

The sexual revolution brought about in part by Sanger's promotion of contraception and abortion, Mrs. Clinton said, has "ushered in demographic and social changes that have brought us closer to gender equality than at any time."

Despite this, she said that the work of Planned Parenthood and the movement inspired by Sanger "is not done." Linking birth control and women's "empowerment," she said, "women and girls are still the majority of the world's poor, unschooled, unhealthy, and underfed."

"This is and has been for many years a matter of personal and professional importance to me, and I want to assure you that reproductive rights and the umbrella issue of women's rights and empowerment will be a key to the foreign policy of this administration."

Mrs. Clinton's heroine, however, received quite different a treatment in a speech in Congress by Representative Chris Smith, who said on March 31, that Sanger was a racist eugenicist.

Addressing Mrs. Clinton, Smith said, "Are you kidding? In 'awe'' of Margaret Sanger, who said in 1921, 'Eugenics … is the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political, and social problems'. And who also said in 1922, 'The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it'?"

To Mrs. Clinton's assertion that Margaret Sanger's work has been "transformational," Smith responded, "Mr. Speaker, transformational, yes. But not for the better if one happens to be poor, disenfranchised, weak, a person of color, vulnerable, or among the many so-called undesirables who Sanger would exclude and exterminate from the human race."

Comparing the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the abortion movement, Rep. Smith said that the former "has for five centuries brought a message of hope, faith, peace, reconciliation and protection for the weakest, most vulnerable among us."

"On the other hand, each year, Margaret Sanger's Planned Parenthood kills approximately 300,000 unborn baby girls and boys in their abortion clinics scattered throughout the United States."

Highlighting the racist nature of eugenics, Smith further quoted Sanger, who said in 1939, "We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social service backgrounds and with engaging personalities ... We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population."

Mrs. Clinton has regained the confidence of the abortion movement in the US, after her attempts during the lead-up to the presidential race to present herself as a moderate on the issue. Support for her campaign to take the Democrat nomination wavered among hard-core abortion supporters when she called abortion a "tragedy."

I write in response to your editorial of March 30 ["Women have a right to be told of abortion option"]. As a physician practicing in the field of neonatology, I was deeply troubled by your conclusions as well as by the medical misinformation you provided to the public.

You erroneously state that women are put at risk when they are not offered "emergency" or urgent abortion as an option for their pregnancy. You use the example of rupture of membranes early in pregnancy, and state that abortion is a "recommended option." In fact, surgical abortion, which mutilates the fetus and also poses some risk to the mother, is not the best medical option in this situation. Expectant management and use of antibiotics is. The majority of time the woman will miscarry -- a far more natural event than an abortion. Furthermore, approximately 10 percent of the time the hole in the membranes can seal up and the pregnancy can continue to viability. The protocol followed in Catholic hospitals in this scenario is a legitimate, valid and safe option for premature rupture of membranes, one that is best for both mother and child.

Abortion performed to "save" a mother's life almost never -- if ever -- is necessary. Are pregnant women dying in Catholic hospitals, unable to get access to an emergency abortion? Of course not. In fact, Ireland -- a country where the unborn child is constitutionally protected -- has the lowest maternal death rate in the world. More than a decade ago, a group of Ireland's top obstetricians concluded that "there are no medical circumstances justifying direct abortion, that is, no circumstances in which the life of a mother may only be saved by directly terminating the life of her unborn child."

The United Kingdom, on the other hand, where abortion is available practically on demand, has over five times Ireland's maternal death rate.

Catholic hospitals and physicians do not offer abortion as a "treatment option," because abortion always ends the life of what medical textbooks -- used in secular medical schools -- refer to as the "second patient," namely, the unborn child.

Why does the Sun-Times advocate forcing Catholic health-care workers to participate in such a practice they -- along with those of other faiths, or of no faith tradition whatsoever -- find so immoral? Should medical schools now post notices saying, "Catholics need not apply?" Would the Sun-Times be happier with Catholic hospitals -- a third of our nation's health care -- closing down instead?

This is still the United States of America, a country founded on the principle of freedom of religion. Catholic hospitals and Catholic physicians and nurses should be able to refuse to participate -- in any way -- in a practice they consider to be immoral, unsafe and inhumane.

Case Update - Pro-Life Pastor Rev. Hoye Released from Jail

On Monday, April 7, 2009, Rev. Walter Hoye was released from jail. You will recall from previous updates that Rev. Hoye was wrongfully convicted on January 15, 2009, for allegedly violating the City of Oakland, California’s “bubble” law. Rev. Hoye was sentenced on March 20, 2009, to 30 days in the Alameda County jail and a fine. Rev. Hoye only served 18 of those 30 days.

Rev. Hoye’s wife, Lori, reports that during his time in jail he had Bible studies with the inmates and led 6 men to Christ.

Other good news is that instead of just Rev. Hoye and the two elderly church women who accompanied him to the clinic in the past, the public sidewalk in front of the abortion clinic now draws a crowd of sidewalk counselors. A series of vigils aimed at painting the law for what it is, an attack on pro-life free speech, are now planned.

“They would have been in a better position if they would have left him alone. They picked on one man on one street, one day a week trying to reach one woman at a time with one sign for one hour,” said Dion Evans, pastor of Alameda’s Chosen Vessels Christian Church. “Now a mobilization has come together because they’ve created an unjust law. People like myself who have been cheerleading are not on the sidelines anymore. We’re now in the game.”

Life Legal Defense Foundation attorneys Allison Aranda, Catherine Short, and affiliated attorney Mike Millen, will appeal the trial court verdict. LLDF attorneys have also filed a Motion for Summary Judgment in the federal suit challenging the constitutionality of the ordinance. The hearing is set for May 1, 2009.
