“Since the barbaric murder of Terri Schiavo, the dehumanization of the disabled has only increased not only in America, but around the world. Right now in Canada and India, cases are pending and lives are hanging in the balance because of a ‘better off dead’ ethos that condemns the medically vulnerable. We stand today not just for compassion and inclusion, but to protect the basic human rights of those who need only basic care.” - Fr. Frank Pavone
As the daughter of a woman who is handicapped (my mother had polio at age 3 which was so severe that she was in an iron lung) and the niece of an uncle with a disabling fetal syndrome (he has the mental capacity of a 3-4 year old), I find the dehumanization of disabled persons by the 'better off dead' mentality Fr. Frank speaks of above as horrific. My mom was so ill when she was in the iron lung that a doctor actually recommended to my grandparents that she be left in a room to die without treatment (euthanasia by starvation and water deprivation). Thankfully, my grandparents and my rough and tough great-grandma Rose (don't let the name fool you, she was tough as nails - she was a rum-runner for the family's moonshining business back in prohibition when she was only 16) said no (Great-Grandma Rose's response was something along the lines of "you're not going to kill off my granddaughter!"), and my mom made a strong recovery with only the loss of the use of one leg (she has used a crutch or leg brace since she was 3). She has gone on to have 2 kids of her own (me and my older sister), 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons (the count so far!) :) None of us would have been here had that doctor's suggestion of euthanasia, in the name of "treatment," been accepted.
My sweet uncle David (mentioned above), the son of my grandpa and step-grandma, is one of the happiest and liveliest people I know. He clearly enjoys his life and those around him, holds a job and is capable of much social interaction. Every time I see him he greets me with a huge hug, a beaming smile and asks to go "vrooom!" in my "Batman car" :) (he loves Batman, and since my car is black, he associates it with the Batmobile). He used to love my Ford Thunderbird, as it was my "fast, red car!" He is very animated and a great joy to be around. I feel blessed that he is my uncle.
My point here is this: the value of a life isn't measured by a person's abilities, injuries or illnesses. Life is beautiful, and I find it ironic that it's usually those blessed with good health that are often the ones who want to dehumanize and devalue the lives of those precious individuals who are weaker, less able or ill. The strong in society should be the ones to protect and nurture the ones in need, not seek to destroy them.
"How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these." - George Washington Carver
Speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. - Proverbs 31:8
Simply, Life.

‘Scores’ of victims of ‘House of Horrors’ abortionist tell of forced abortions, lifelong injuries.
Are we so naive as a nation to think this is an isolated incident? When the government protects killing (for profit!), why should we be surprised that the lives of women and breathing children outside of the womb are disregarded (and in turn abused, killed and gravely injured) with such brutality? When the killing of a human person (at ANY stage of life) is granted by law as a "right," the government is mandating these gruesome abuses of human life and dignity - this is the reality of the abortion industry. We would be foolish to consider this incident to be isolated to this one specific clinic and abortionist. Please see the article below:

‘Scores’ of victims of ‘House of Horrors’ abortionist tell of forced abortions, lifelong injuries.
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, January 26, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - “Scores” of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s victims are coming forward after his arrest last week, says Pennsylvania’s District Attorney. Many women are detailing the horrid atrocities in the media, with some alleging that he even forced them to abort their child.
One woman, Robyn Reid, told ABC News that she had planned to sneak away when her grandmother brought the then-three-month-pregnant 15-year-old to Gosnell’s facility on January 31, 1998. “When I said no, the doctor got upset and he ended up taking my clothes off, hitting me, my legs were tied to the stirrups,” she said.
“I was fully dressed. He actually managed to get all of my clothes off and tie me down to the medical bed,” she continued. “I just remember my very last thought ... looking up at the light and thinking, ‘Don’t fall asleep.’”
In the midst of the 30-minute struggle, she says the abortionist assured her by saying, “This is the same care that I would give to my own daughter.”
Reid said the drugs Gosnell gave her were so strong they knocked her out for 12 hours, and she was carried home asleep by her mother and aunt. “What would you give somebody that small that would knock me out for 12 hours? What if I had died?” she asked.
Gosnell, 69, was arrested last Wednesday for eight counts of murder, which included charges for killing seven babies that were born alive and one count for the botched-abortion death of 41-year-old Nepalese refugee Karnamaya Mongar.
His arrest followed the release of a 281-page photograph-laden Grand Jury Report that detailed Gosnell’s bone-chilling practices, including the killing of what clinic workers testified were “hundreds” of living, breathing newborn children by severing their spinal cords or slitting their necks.
“I said, ‘I don’t want to do this,’ and he smacked me. They tied my hands and arms down and gave me more medication,” Davida Johnson, who went to Gosnell in 2001, told The Associated Press.
Within a few months, the then-21-year-old began suffering gynecological issues, and learned she had contracted a venereal disease. She said she now suffers from an unidentified lifelong illness, and has since had four miscarriages. Commenting on Gosnell’s horrid treatment of the babies, Johnson asked, “Did he do that to mine? Did he stab him in the neck? Because I was out of it. I don’t know what he did to my baby.”
Gosnell has faced 46 civil lawsuits in the past, the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s office told ABCNews, and more and more victims are coming forward. “Phones are ringing off the hook. There are scores of women,” District Attorney Christine Wechsler said.
LaToya Ransome told CNN that her abortion in July 2007 by Gosnell left her disabled. “It was the utensils that he used ... to do the abortion,” she said. “They wasn’t sterilized, so it caused me to get an infection called endocarditis.” “By August 31, 2007 I had open heart surgery,” she said. “October the first of 2007 I was disabled, meaning I couldn’t do nothing for myself, take care of my son, take care of myself, feed myself, clothe myself, none of that.” “He’s crazy and he’s careless. He had ... no type of feelings of what he’s doing to these women and these babies,” she added.
Nicole Gaither, 38, told ABC News that she was in excruciating pain and could hardly sit down after Gosnell aborted her baby at five-months gestation in 2001. It turned out that the abortionist had left parts of her baby’s body inside her. When she went back, he sucked the remains out without giving her anesthesia. Afterward he said, “Stand up, you aren’t in that much pain.”
“I was just laying on the table and crying and I just asked the Lord to get me through it,” she said.
The Grand Jury report slammed the Pennsylvania Department of Health and other state government agencies for turning a blind eye to Gosnell’s practices, despite their knowledge of complaints and lawsuits against the abortionist.
According to the Grand Jury, the state ceased inspecting abortion facilities in 1995 under the administration of former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, a pro-abortion Catholic. The inspections were only resumed in 2010 by then-Governor Ed Rendell.
“The Pennsylvania Department of Health abruptly decided, for political reasons, to stop inspecting abortion clinics at all,” said the grand jury. “With the change of administration from Governor [Robert] Casey to Governor Ridge, officials concluded that inspections would be ‘putting a barrier up to women’ seeking abortions … Even nail salons in Pennsylvania are monitored more closely for client safety.”
The report also implicated the National Abortion Federation, which failed to report him to authorities after observing numerous violations during an evaluation as part of a failed membership application.
Authorities only discovered Gosnell’s gruesome thirty-year abortion operation when they raided his facility for a drug bust.
Today the pro-life activist organization Operation Rescue emphasized that Gosnell’s abortion facility is merely one of the few “house of horrors” to be caught, as they released a report exposing Gosnell’s connection to the Delta Clinic of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The report, says the group, reveals a “web of death” between Gosnell, co-arrestee Eileen O’Neill, and Delta Clinic’s owner Leroy Brinkley, who also owns the Atlantic Women’s Services abortion facility in Wilmington, Delaware. Gosnell was employed at Atlantic Women’s Services one day per week, and O’Neill, who pretended to be a licensed physician, was employed by both Gosnell and Brinkley. She was arrested along with Gosnell last week.
The report also implicates again the National Abortion Federation, which claims Brinkley’s Louisiana and Delaware facilities as proud members.
A group of attorneys has threatened to sue the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals if it does not immediately order the Delta Clinic closed for violations that mirror squalid conditions found at Gosnell’s Philadelphia abortion mill.
“Certainly Gosnell’s mill is not the only ‘house of horrors’ in operation. He is just one of the few that has been caught,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Horrific conditions and practices exist at most abortion clinics, and in fact, we have yet to find even one that obeys all the laws.
“However, we can take hope in the fact that political conditions that have ignored and covered up for abortion abuses are changing and the arrests in Philadelphia of Gosnell’s band of criminals are a testament to that,” he added.
“However, there is still a very long way to go, as this report shows.”

[Side note, from me: Even though the former governor claimed to be "Catholic," there is no such thing as a "pro-choice Catholic." While he may try to claim the faith in name, one cannot be both Catholic and pro-choice. To agree with and endorse the killing of a human life, at any stage, is against the teachings of Christ and His Church, and therefore anyone who endorses such (as in abortion, and being "pro-choice") beliefs and actions is in direct opposition with the Catholic Church. We can label ourselves whatever we would like, but we are all defined not by our own personal titles, but by our words and actions. To be a Catholic Christian is much more than a simple named affiliation or label, and one's claimed beliefs must be accompanied by our words and actions. One cannot claim the Catholic Church and then live in direct contrast and opposition with it's doctrines and core beliefs without separating oneself from the Church. This is not me being judgmental of this individual, it is merely an explanation of what is required (by Christ) to be part of the body of Christ in the Catholic Church (Revelation 3:16 - 22).]

So here's a question...
Philadelphia Abortion Doctor Charged With 8 Counts of Murder
Authorities went to investigate drug-related complaints at the clinic last year and stumbled on what Williams called a "house of horrors."
"There were bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses scattered throughout the building," Williams said. "There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose."
The clinic was shut down and Gosnell's medical license was suspended after the raid.
An abortion doctor who catered to minorities, immigrants and poor women was charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, made millions of dollars over 30 years, performing as many illegal, late-term abortions as he could, prosecutors said. State regulators ignored complaints about him and failed to visit or inspect his clinic since 1993.

Horrific. Disturbing. Shocking. Tragic. Yet besides the abnoral way (as perhaps opposed to the "procedures" typically used in other abortion clinics) the dead children were killed and discarded, what is really that different than what goes on legally thousands of times a day in thousands of legal abortion clinics throughout our country (not to mention those worldwide). With no intention to be condescending towards anyone, this begs a simple question: does any sane person within the age of reason in our society (or elsewhere) really believe there's any difference between brutally murdering an innocent child from inside the womb compared to outside? Do people honestly think that a child who is at one moment inside his/her mother somehow is less of a living human person than after he/she passes through the birth canal? If this question sounds brutal and extreme, it's because the practice and culture of abortion is grisly, brutal and extreme. If one embraces "choice" and wants to protect the "individual right to choose," they should be bold and protect the choices, personhood and humanity of all persons, most definitely including the vulnerable little men and women who are being brutally murdered everyday through abortion. It doesn't matter at what stage a person's life is in, it is fully human and fully worthy of our respect, protection and compassion.
The same as above goes for all the countless women and men, mothers and fathers, grandparents and extended family, all who are gravely wounded physically, emotionally and psychologically by abortion every day. This horrifying, tragic story should open our eyes to the reality of abortion: it's not a simple, hidden medical procedure done behind closed doors, it is in fact a brutal murder of at least one (sometimes more) human person.
The story of this abortion doctor who clearly sought out minority patients and made "millions" by doing so should horrify us all. Not only the way he killed children and their mothers, but the fact that he (and so many others in clinics everywhere) are legally allowed to do so under current legislation should shock and alarm all of us. Yet, instead of being horrific, abortion has become accepted as a quiet and necessary procedure in our culture. Is it really? Is it necessary that approximately 46 million little men and women worldwide are killed every year by the various abortion procedures? Not to mention the equally valuable lives of women killed by "botched" procedures and the many women, men and families wounded by abortion.
We must open our eyes to the reality of what is going on right in front of us. Clearly Dr. Gosnell's practice was inexcusable, and arguably evil. We must ask ourselves, if Dr. Gosnell's practice was horrific, what about all the others? Is it acceptable for children and women to be killed and wounded if an abortion clinic follows "acceptable standards of procedure?" The result is the same: death. It is my hope that we all will ask ourselves these simple questions, and see the truth of abortion.
Be bold, be informed, choose life.

Breast Surgeon: Strong correlation between birth control & breast cancer
How is it acceptable that this information isn't loudly explained to each patient before she choses to take the Pill or not?! In a culture that is so concerned with the idea of "choice," why are women not being fully educated so that they can make an informed CHOICE regarding the Pill? Its ironic that so much use of hormone replacement therapy has been stopped due to it being carcinogenic, and yet these are the same hormones that are used widely in the Pill, which is prescribed daily to thousands of women. Women deserve to be fully educated on the risks, not just the "benefits" of the Pill. See the following link:

“This stuff is not new, it’s not magic, it’s in the literature,” Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, a breast surgical oncologist and co-founder of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute said, linking pill use to the 660 percent rise in non-invasive breast cancer since 1973. “Women want to know, and women have a right to know, what researchers have known for over 20 years.”
She compared media treatment of the pill’s cancer risk to that of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which was found to be carcinogenic in 2002. Once word got out, 15 out of 30 million women in America taking HRT stopped; by 2007, invasive breast cancer in women over 50 for estrogen-receptive positive tumors dropped 11 percent.
Meanwhile, she noted, hormonal contraception - essentially the same drug as HRT and with a similar cancer risk, about 25-30 percent - continues to be touted as harmless and even healthy. And yet, the International Agency on Research of Cancer, a branch of the World Health Organization, classified hormonal contraceptives in 2005 as a group one carcinogen along with asbestos and radium.
Unlike the HRT discovery, “I don’t remember one six o’clock news report about that information,” said Lanfranchi.

From the Mouths of Abortionists - Direct Quotes
The truth of abortion can't be stated any more clearly than by the mouths of abortion providers and supporters themselves:
"Abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun."
--Planned Parenthood "Plan Your Children for Health and Happiness" Pamphlet, 1963
"One sperm joins one egg = baby." - ABC's of Birth Control (Planned Parenthood publication - World Population, 1973), p. 4.
"I have angry feelings at myself for feeling good about grasping the calvaria, for feeling good about doing a technically good procedure that destroys a fetus, kills a baby."
--New Mexico abortionist cited from the article "Abortion Providers Share Inner Conflicts" which appeared in the July 12 1993 issue of AAA News, a publication of the American Medical Association
Faye Wattleton responded to the statement: "It's not a frog or a ferret that's being killed. It's a baby," with "I am fully aware of that. I am fully aware of that."
--Faye Wattleton on the Phil Donahue Show (Donahue Transcript # 3288, 1991)
"I was trained by a professional marketing director in how to sell abortions over the telephone. He took every one of our receptionists, nurses, and anyone else who would deal with people over the phone through an extensive training period. The object was, when the girl called, to hook the sale so that she wouldn't get an abortion somewhere else, or adopt out her baby, or change her mind. We were doing it for the money."
--Nina Whitten, chief secretary at a Dallas abortion clinic under Dr. Curtis Boyd
“We tried to avoid the women seeing them [the fetuses] They always wanted to know the sex, but we lied and said it was too early to tell. It's better for the women to think of the fetus as an 'it.’”
--Abortion clinic worker Norma Eidelman quoted in Rachel Weeping p 34
“We know that its killing, but the state permits killing under certain circumstances"
--Dr. Neville Sender, abortionist
"...the abortion-rights folks know it, the anti-abortion folks know it, and so probably, does everyone else. One of the facts of abortion is that women enter abortion clinics to kill their fetuses. It is a form of killing ...you're ending a life."
--Ron Fitzsimmons, National Coalition of Abortion Providers, New York Times, 26 February 1997
“We have reached a point in this particular technology [D&E abortion] where there is no possibility of denial of an act of destruction by the operator. It is before one’s eyes. The sensations of dismemberment flow through the forceps like an electric current.”
--Dr. Warren Hern, (late term abortionist), "What About Us? Staff Reactions to D&E," paper presented at the annual meeting of Planned Parenthood Physicians, San Diego, CA, 1978)
In testimony Wednesday in St. Louis Circuit Court, [abortionist] Crist said that it is not uncommon for second-trimester fetuses to leave the womb feet-first, intact and with their hearts still beating. He sometimes crushes their skulls to get the fetuses out. Other times, he dismembers them.
--Jo Mannies, "Abortion Doctor Gives Graphic testimony Describing Abortion Procedure," St. Louis Post-Dispatch, May 25, 2000.)
“The fetus in many cases, dies just as a human adult or child would: it bleeds to death as it is torn from limb to limb… The fetus can be alive at the beginning of the dismemberment process and can survive for a time while its limbs are being torn off. --Dr. [Leroy] Carhart [the abortionist who challenged Nebraska’s partial-birth ban] has observed fetal heartbeat… with “extensive parts of the fetus removed,” … and testified that mere dismemberment of a limb does not always cause death because he knows of a physician who removed the arm of a fetus only to have the fetus go on to be born “as a living child with one arm.”…At the conclusion of a D&E abortion… the abortionist is left with a “tray full of pieces.”
--Anthony Kennedy, pro-abortion, Supreme Court justice
"It was at this point that I began to have nightmares . . .. In my nightmares, I would deliver a healthy newborn baby. And I would take that healthy newborn baby, and I would hold it up. And I would face a jury of faceless people and ask them to tell me what to do with this baby. They were to go thumbs up or thumbs down, and if they made a thumbs down indication, then I was to drop the baby into a bucket of water which was present. I never did reach the point of dropping the baby into the bucket, because I’d always wake up at that point”
--Former abortion doctor McArthur Hill has told of how he would try to save premature babies and then find that the babies he’d aborted were bigger than the premature ones he had saved. (Prolife Action League, 1989).
"My heart got callous to the fact that I was a murderer - that baby lying in a cold bowl educated me as to what abortion really was." Dr David Brewer, Former Abortionist

The Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act of 2010
“Destruction of the embryo in the mother’s womb is a violation of the right to live which God has bestowed on this nascent [developing] life. To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent human being has been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder.” ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer ~

The above link will direct you to the text of the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act introduced in the US Senate. In reading this text, I was heartbroken and brought to tears. How is it possible that in this great nation, where there are so many who profess to be followers of Christ, that there is even a need for an act to request pain relief for the innocent child who is being mercilessly slaughtered in his/her own mothers womb? It is incredibly horrible, in my perception, that animals that are butchered in the US are only allowed to be slaughtered in specific ways that alleviate or reduce the pain to the animal, yet unborn children are literally ripped limb by limb into pieces, burnt by chemicals, partially delivered and then punctured in the skull and their brains literally sucked out of them, etc, on a whim and without concern for their pain and their suffering. The fact that these brutal acts take place at all is horrific, and the fact that an Act has to be put before the US Senate in order to show them that the human being in the womb feels pain and suffers during his or her death during an abortion is nothing less than tragic.
Could it be that this is an issue because if a we accept that the child in the womb is in need of pain relief in order to be killed, then we are actually admitting that the child IS indeed a child - not a blob of flesh - a child who feels and suffers? Most individuals would agree (even those who are pro-choice) that it is WRONG to kill a child. Scientific studies demonstrate that the unborn child indeed feels pain, and simple biology shows that the unborn child is indeed human, regardless of what Planned Parenthood or anyone else tries to claim. Biology is biology, and humanity is humanity, and there is no propaganda on earth that can change that. The deceptive words of abortion providers and the many who choose not to protect the smallest and most innocent members of our human race by supporting abortion, or simply, by their silence on the issue, do not change the fact that abortion kills a living human being, who, like the rest of us, feels pain and is deserving of life. The reality of humanity and the value of life is what it is - priceless, at ANY stage.
Tiny fingers, veins, and fingernails of a child in the womb at 12 weeks.
